Where Women Create Business Where Women Cook Where Women Create

On the front burner: Marsey Iverson

Today is the first Monday with our new title! Thanks again to Tamera Hensley for the great bit of wit! Now, on to our regularly scheduled programming! I met Marsey in NYC at the launch party at Chelsea Market and I just love her to bits. In a weird cooinkidink it turns out we went to high school together! (Go, Braves!) She has an adorable family, she’s artistic from head to toe and I especially love how she cooks with her Father-in-law. It looks like a blast!

Hello. I’m Marsey Iverson and I live in a small city in Utah. When I was eight, my mom taught me the basics of cooking, and at some point when I was messing up the kitchen, flour on my hands and batter in my hair, I discovered a life-long love for cooking.

Now that I have two kids of my own, I’m passionate about getting them involved in the culinary process. They grocery shop, prepare, and cook with me. Sometimes they like the outcome, sometimes they don’t; but either way, we make memories together. I also enjoy cooking with my father-in-law, Chip. We like challenging each other with new ingredients, food combinations, and techniques. I’ve found that sharing the kitchen is a great way to build relationships.

Whether with friends, family, or on my own, cooking is my creative outlet. When I’m bored, stressed, tired or happy… I head into the kitchen. While cookies, candies and puddings top my list of favorite things to make, I’m also very health conscious. I like to find substitutions that raise protein, fiber and antioxidant content while lowering calories. My cooking is budget conscious, too. I use inexpensive ingredients that are easily found at any grocery store. I keep a little garden in the summer and order from a local food co-op to cut expense without sacrificing quality and flavor.

Blogging is new to me even though I have been writing, photographing, and scrapbooking for years. On marseyiverson.blogspot.com, you can see what my family is cooking, the funny things the kids are saying, and keep up with my ‘challenge ingredient’ dinner adventures with Chip. If you’re lucky, you might catch a glimpse of my handsome husband, perhaps with his latest hunting or fishing harvest. Bon appetite!
