Photography: Life on the prairie

I absolutely drool and envy the pure gorgeous that is Serena’s life. Beautiful surroundings, home, family, pantry and food mixed in with a liberal dose of love. Who could ask for more?

“Life on the prairie is good.”

My family and I have been lucky enough to call the prairie just outside of Spokane, Washington our home. It’s an area that “moves” me in ways that I find hard to describe. I think Teddy Roosevelt said it best when he said, “Anyone can love a mountain, but it takes a soul to love the prairie.”

We’ve raised our children in our happy home, filled with light.

And a pantry that made me smile every time I opened it.

This summer, we began building a new home, the farmhouse of our dreams, just a few miles away, surrounded by orchards that my boys and I visit several times a week in the summer.

I love that I can walk next door to my neighbor’s farm and pick fresh strawberries any time I like. Or walk down the road for fresh corn, carrots, apples, peaches, plumbs, hazlenuts, pumpkins, apricots, berries, and squash.

Our neighbor farms our property, rotating crops of pumpkins, corn, and strawberries.

Much of my spare time is spent in the kitchen, baking to my heart’s content. It’s what I love to do.

And I love sweets the best.

And I always say that I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Life on the prairie is good.
